3. We’re family
All of us at Kobé like to deem ourselves as being a “Kobé Family”. Since 1984, we have been serving the Orlando and Tampa market as a place for locals to come celebrate special occasions year after year and for visitors from afar to experience a unique local offering.

OUR STORY

Kobé is known for offering its guests a unique Teppanyaki dining experience and doing so with its very own blend of fun and flare at its 13 Central Florida locations. It may surprise you to know that Kobé is family owned and operated.

Our story began in 1984 when Doi Tan Nguyen, along with his son Chau left Montreal, Canada. They came to Altamonte Springs and launched Kobé, Florida’s Premier Japanese Steakhouse. Nguyen had big ideas for his restaurant concept in the Orlando market. He wanted to deliver a unique dining experience that would offer an exciting and vibrant environment for guests to gather and celebrate over delicious food and drinks.

In 1996, with the passing of his father and joined by his sister and uncle, Chau Nguyen took over the company and remains the principal owner of the Florida native brand. Over the years, Kobé has grown to become a big family business that includes his children, nieces and numerous dedicated employees that have been with the company through the decades.

With 13 locations spanning from Orlando to Tampa, the Kobé team strives to continue to deliver the best Japanese Steakhouse dining experience to all local guests and those from all around the world.

What does Teppanyaki Mean?

The Japanese word “teppanyaki” combines the word “teppan” which means iron plate with yaki which means grill. The meaning of Teppanyaki is, literally, “iron plate grill”.

TEPPANYAKI TODAY

Kobé Japanese Steakhouse is Florida’s premier Japanese Steakhouse. We specialize in teppanyaki dining where our skilled chefs delight guests with their culinary skills as they prepare guests’ dinners right before their eyes. Food was really great. Our chef Eddie Tan was amazing. He’s really jovial and swift with those knives. It was a pleasure to watch him work and eat at his hands. The overall service of the waiter was also great, he was always quick to do refills as though he was just right there. A place to visit for sure.

Went there with family from out of the country who had not experienced hibachi before. They loved it. Food was good and plentiful, so much we couldn’t eat it all. Our ‘cook’, ‘trick master’, Tri, was good and very entertaining. However, our server, Connie really made our experience a great one, she was there checking on us throughout the meal, refilling our drinks, making sure we had all we needed. She was really funny and entertaining in her own right, made us laugh so much we had jaw ache. Well done Connie and Tri, you made our night. Thank you!
